Future Press Release

A future press release is a press release written in the present tense for a product that doesn't exist yet. It describes the finished product on its launch day - headline, problem, solution, and customer quote - as a forcing function to keep the team focused on the customer rather than the technology.

It's the 'PR' half of a PR/FAQ. Writing it first prevents the most common failure mode in product planning: falling in love with a solution before confirming anyone wants the outcome.

Because it's written for a customer to read, it has no room for internal jargon, P&L details, or competitive obsession - only the value the customer actually receives.
